Privacy

Your scripts stay on your machine.

What NowUtils collects, why, and what it never touches. Last updated 18 October 2026.

The tools run in your browser

Queries, update sets and scripts you paste or drop in are processed on your device. They are never sent to NowUtils or anyone else.

No cookies

NowUtils sets no cookies, and the analytics are configured without them.

No accounts

There is nothing to sign up for and no login.

Anonymous page counts

Google Analytics counts which pages are visited, without cookies and without recognising you between pages.

Who is responsible

NowUtils is run by Swetha Elanchezhiyan, Stockholm, Sweden. For anything about privacy, email [email protected].

What you paste into the tools

The Encoded Query Translator, Update Set XML Viewer, Script Checker and every other tool work entirely in your browser. Encoded queries, update set files, scripts and anything else you paste or drop in are processed on your device and are never uploaded. NowUtils has no server that could receive them.

  • Share links: when you copy a link to a query, the query is placed after the # in the address. Browsers never send that part to a server, so it is not seen by NowUtils, the host or the analytics.
  • Opening a script in the Script Checker from the Update Set Viewer passes it to the new tab through your browser's session storage. The checker deletes it as soon as it has read it.

Page statistics (Google Analytics)

To learn which tools and pages are used, NowUtils uses Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. It is set up to be as light as possible:

  • No cookies: no analytics cookie is stored. Each page view gets a new random ID, so you are not recognised between pages or visits.
  • No advertising features: Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off.
  • Short retention: event data is kept for 2 months.

For each page view, Google receives the page address (without anything after #), the page you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and an approximate location (country and region) derived from your IP address. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.

Google acts as a processor for NowUtils. Data may be processed in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): understanding which free tools are useful, so they can be improved.

To opt out, use your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The tools work the same either way.

Hosting

NowUtils is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, including your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare may process this data outside the EU, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Fonts and other files

Fonts, images and scripts are served from nowutils.com itself. Pages make no requests to font services, and nothing is loaded from other websites except Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, described above.

Links to other sites and email

Links to GitHub, LinkedIn, Credly and ServiceNow lead to sites with their own privacy policies. If you email [email protected], your address and message are used only to reply to you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data, restrict or object to its use, and complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY. Because NowUtils uses no cookies or accounts, it normally cannot link analytics data to you. Email [email protected] with any request.
